Bobby Clancy, at an early age, became interested in collecting and singing folk songs. Besides performing with the Clancy Brothers, Bobby has recorded five solo albums and one with his sister Peg Clancy Power.

He won many awards at the Irish Music Festivals. "Bobby Clancy Sings" was his first TV series in Ireland, followed by other weekely programmes and numerous appearances on BBC, Canadian and West German T.V.

"Irish Music is" said Bobby, "the song and spirit you learn by listening to wandering singers who still are part of the scene." As well as playing the guitar, banjo, harmonica and bodhran his artistic background enveloped acting, poetry reading, story-telling and singing songs from many nations.

Bobby worked and travelled in Greece, Italy, France, Egypt, and East Africa and said "the best way to learn and collect songs, is still to wander tramp-fashion, around town and countrysides, listening and learning".
